Camus Sustainability Initiative - Five College Initiative

"Blue Sky: Envisioning Sustainability for the Five Colleges and Beyond"

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Campus Center Room 162-175

Help UMass Amherst be a Sustainability Leader! This meeting is open to the University community to attend, learn about what is already happening with campus sustainability, and offer ideas.

The Board of Directors of the Five College Consortium is issuing a call for ideas for new initiatives and programs in academic, co-curricular, and operational aspects of sustainability. The UMass Amherst Campus Sustainability Initiative and the Sustainability Manager will take the lead on this initiative at UMass Amherst. Over the next few months, it will convene a set of Blue Sky meetings of faculty members, administrators, staff members, and students to brainstorm possible programs and projects spanning the curricular and co-curricular lives of our students and the administrative and operational activities on each of our campuses, among our campuses, and in our region.

There are multiple ways in which the UMass Amherst community can participate in this initiative:

* The Five College website http://www.fivecolleges.edu/sustainability includes a web-based submission of ideas for Five College sustainability projects and programs.

* You may also send your project ideas and project descriptions to Ezra Small, the campus Sustainability Manager (email: esmall [at] facil [dot] umass [dot] edu), who will be our campus coordinator for gathering ideas and forwarding them to the Five Colleges staff OR post your ideas to the UMass Campus Sustainability Initiative Facebook Page.

The Five College Directors hope to have a summary of ideas generated by the end of February.
